Happy Family Day

There were a lot of great events that took place this past weekend in celebration of Family Day.  Free skating at the local arenas, Heartland Forest, the Ice Dogs had their fourth annual skills competition, enjoying the sugar bush and their all day breakfast but nothing brought crowds like the ice caves.  We took our family to see the ice caves on Monday and the kids had a blast.  The weather was perfect and the kids spent hours running in and out of the caves and playing in the snow.  It was a great way to unwind from all the hustle and bustle of our daily lives.  We ended the day with a great meal, a Boneless Blade Roast with potatoes.  I had put the crock pot on before we left and dinner was ready for us when we got home.

Ice Caves

Here is the recipe

4-6 lb Blade Roast

1 Package of lipton onion soup

1 can cream of mushroom soup

1 cup of dry white wine.

Brown Roast in a skillet or fry pan with some butter.  Add the roast to your crockpot and combine ingredients.  Cook on low heat for 6-8 hours or until tender.

Hope everyone had an enjoyable family day!  What memories did you make?
